Greetings from a HOT Mount Hood...
Things have been going great here since our last post. We've now skied a total of 5 days and are into our GS block for the camp. We finished up our first 4 day block of free-skiing and fundamental drill work on Friday with a corridor of brushes. We progressed from working on basic balance and stance to moving towards the new outside ski with power and precision. Today we skied GS in rollers which challenged our skills by forcing us to execute clean turns in abrupt terrain. Progress (and FUN) was had by all!
The weather has changed for the better - we've had great visibility and snow over the last few days. The challenge has turned from trying to stay dry and warm to now trying to stay cool and find shade! The mountain is losing snow quickly but there is still PLENTY to go around! For dryland, we've spent some time exploring some new swimming holes and lakes to cool off in.
Our guest coach, Tommy Biesemeyer (current USST member, NYSEF alum) will be joining us for the remainder of the camp. We're excited to have Bies back at Hood and are looking forward to a great remainder of camp!
Here's a few pics of on snow - check out more on Facebook!
