2015 NYSEF Alpine Summer Camps
This summer we’re heading to Les 2 Alpes, France for our on-snow summer camps. The Camp Announcement
has all the pertinent details (detailed flight information is below).
There are two options to meet the varying needs of athletes and
families.
Updates:
*4/15*: Please find valuable passport information (validity of passports when traveling in Europe) at the following link: http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/go/schengen-fact-sheet.html
4/8: Due to requests from families and other considerations we have blocked a little bit different flight plan for our group. The big difference is we will be flying out of JFK direct to Geneva. Both camps (short and long) are scheduled to depart on the same outbound flight from JFK. Flight details are below.
Winter Park travel will be handling our tickets. Please contact them at 1-800-325-2748 to purchase athlete tickets. Reference NYSEF July Camp in France.
Short Camp Flights:
- The Short Camp (June 28 – July 9) will replace our previously announced Mount Hood camp. This camp is open to U12s, U14s and first-year U16s (YOB 2005 – 2001).
- The Long Camp (June 28 – July 16) will replace our previously announced La Parva camp. This camp is open to second-year U14s and older (YOB 2002 – 1998).
Contact us at alpinecamps@nysef.org or call 518-946-7001 (David Smith at x33, Jimbo Johnston at x32) soon to reserve a spot!

Update for President's Weekend 2015
Update: the bad news is that it was –19F and windy in the parking lot at
7:45 when we pulled in. Good news is the temps should increase and wind should
die off through the day. Most lifts are questionable for the morning and winds
are pounding at the top of the gondola. Based on the forecasts I’m watching:
- We’ll have a very limited and optional program for U12/10s and U14s. U16s and U18s are off.
- Schedule 10:30am arrive at the NYSEF Building, skiing from 11:00am – 2:30pm if possible.

Hello, NYSEF-Alpine Parents:
I wanted to
give you all a heads up on what we’re thinking over the next few days due to the
forecasted extreme cold and wind (below) coupled with the fact that President’s
weekend is the busiest of the year at Whiteface..... We contemplated canceling
program Sunday, but our best guess at this point is that Sunday morning will be
reasonable, but Sunday afternoon into Monday morning will be tough. Wish
we had a crystal ball to look into, but this is the best call we can make at
this point.
So, here’s
what we’re thinking:
- Sunday, Feb 15th: Program as scheduled at Whiteface (U14 and older) and Pisgah (U10/12). It’s likely that Sunday will be cut short to a half-day as the weather worsens in the afternoon.
- Monday, Feb 16th: We will do a “late start” at 10am and try to go until normally scheduled 2 or 2:30pm. If the weather does not improve, we may cancel altogether. I will post updates to the Whiteface Alpine Blog as well as get an email out as timely as I can. Some age groups may cancel training for the day anyway as they have scheduled training throughout the week.
Other program schedules remain the same for President’s week, though long
range looks questionable again as we get to Thursday...
As always, please use your judgment regarding your athlete’s needs – the
ultimate goal is to keep our athletes motivated and excited about this sport.
Bundle up, stay warm!
