Whiteface New Years Potluck 12/31/12

Hi NYSEF Families and Coaches-

Before everyone's race season gets underway, we'd like to have a NYSEF New Year's Celebration at the NYSEF Lodge on Monday Dec. 31st beginning at 11:30 am when the half day of training ends. We'd like to extend the invitation to all NYSEF members & their families.... Coaches, Athletes, Alpine, Freestyle, U10 through Masters..... yes EVERYONE!!!

We're planning a potluck & would ask than everyone attending bring something (and bring alot of it). The Lodge will be very full. We are planning to use both upstairs & downstairs.

Please RSVP with a head count to me at drdillobgyn@gmail.com.

Linda at the front desk of the NYSEF building will have a sign-up sheet. We will also need non-skiing volunteers to help with set-up Monday morning during the kids training sessions. Another group of volunteers will be needed to help with clean-up after it's all over.

If you have any questions about this or any suggestions, please feel free to contact me.

NYSEF WF: 12/21 Friday Training

Athletes, Parents and Coaches:

Friday training for tomorrow (December 21st) is now cancelled due to severe weather in the forecast. The winter weather advisory and high wind warning that are in effect for our area (below) will make lift operation and skiing very difficult if at all possible. The good news is there is snow in the forecast, but for those taking work or school off to get here, we highly suggest saving the time off for another day.

I apologize for the late notice but the warning was just made official this morning. Saturday and Sunday look much better at this point.

Opening Weekend

Greetings NYSEF Families:

I can’t believe opening weekend is already here! For those that haven’t been around yet, the skiing has been fantastic and we’re looking forward to a great opening day.

Just wanted to write a quick note of reminders for the weekend. In the case anyone is still wondering, the first official day of Weekend Program is SUNDAY, not Saturday which will be made of staff meetings as in the past.  Here’s a short summary of the itinerary for the weekend:
  • Saturday: Meet/greet with coaches from 8:30-9:00 AM – come by to pick up your passes, meet coaches, etc., then go out and free-ski on your own or with family. Staff meetings will be from 9:00 – 2:30.
  • Sunday: Program begins at 8:30 sharp so be ready to ski! Come dressed for a variety of weather over the course of the weekend
    • U10/U12 groups: meet with Beatty and other coaches at 8:30 INSIDE the NYSEF Training Center (look for an additional e-mail from Beatty with details)
    • U14/U16/Masters groups: meet with me and other coaches at 8:30 OUTSIDE the building ready to go (athletes should be on SL skis and ready to begin a free-skiing progression)
Please let me know if you have any questions, looking forward to the weekend!

NYSEF-Alpine On-Snow Camps

NYSEF will be hosting two fall alpine camps on snow to help athletes get a jump start on the ski season.  Both camps are great for aspiring racers to work on fundamentals and get the necessary mileage that can be hard to come by in December.

The Western Camp will consist of 7-8 days of free-skiing on some awesome terrain out in Summit County, Colorado with lots of winter snow at resorts like A-Basin, Loveland, and Copper.  Meanwhile, the Eastern Camp will consist of 5 days of free-skiing at Killington on some of the first snow in the East.
